Inspired by the Hidden World of Girls series on NPR, Hidden World of Girls: Stories for Orchestra is a collaborative production by numerous artists that was presented at the Cabrillo Music Festival. The show focuses on the stories of girls as they become women, all in the context of symphonic compositions and immersive media.

For the full evening-length performance, Obscura created and directed orchestral visualizations in partnership with NPR’s The Kitchen Sisters, accomplished composer Laura Karpman, and a group of guest composers directed by Maestra Marin Aslop.

The multi-faceted experience brought the women’s stories to life through powerful imagery and artistic visualizations, which were projected in harmony with the music onto an antique window canvas.
